How does a diaper service work?
- Your order of fresh, clean diapers are delivered 1-2 weeks before baby’s scheduled arrival, unless of course baby is already here!
- Take the clean diapers out of the bag and verify you have the correct number of diapers. Use the bag as the diaper pail liner.
- Once dirty, shake any solids into the toilet* and just toss the diaper into the hamper bag.
- Place the bag of dirty diapers outside on your delivery day. Your diaper service will replace the bag of dirty diapers with a fresh set of clean diapers.
- Each week CYA will count the number of dirty diapers and will deliver that number the following week.
It’s that easy. Sit back, raise a healthy, happy baby and let your diaper service do the cleaning.
*until a baby begins eating solids, poopy diapers can be tossed into the hamper bag just the same as pee-pee diapers. However, any time that the poopy is solid (starting around 6-9 months and becoming consistently so between 11-15 months), it’s important that you plunk the solid bits into the toilet before tossing the diaper into the hamper. Don’t let this scare you. It’s really pretty simple – and is something you should be doing with disposables as well. The big bonus: a low-odor diaper pail!
What am I getting with CYA Diaper Service?
With CYA, you are not just getting cloth diapers. You are purchasing a service. You receive on-call care around the clock. We work 7 days a week to handle any diaper emergencies that may arise. And they DO arise! You are also receiving weekly pick-up, cleaning, and delivery of your diapers and any other diapering, mothering supplies that you may need right to your door.
Who supplies the Diaper Covers?
We ask that families purchase and maintain their own diaper covers. They can be purchased from us – we carry ProRap Covers or from any source you wish. If purchased from us, we supply care instructions with delivery.
What happens when I go out of town?
- We can put your account on hold for any reason and for any length of time. For vacations or holds that are longer than 2 weeks, we will ask to pick-up all of your diapers.
- But the most important thing is: please give us a week’s notice so that we can pick up any dirties before you leave town. You certainly don’t want dirty diapers sitting in your house for a few weeks. And, sadly, they are often times permanently stained if they sit for longer than a week.
- Also, we’re totally okay with you bringing some of your diapers with you while away. Just let us know and we’ll share some washing tips. (if you’d like to do this for longer than 2 weeks, we’ll generally pick up all of your diapers and, instead, provide you with a Travel Set, plus assess a fair “rental” fee.)
What if I forget to put my diapers out?
If you forget to put your soiled diapers out for pickup, your driver will still deliver your week’s clean diapers. We will contact you for an alternate pick up time. We are happy to cover a few occasional extra trips, but will have to charge an additional $10 pick up fee if this occurs more than three times.
How do I pay for service?
There are several ways to pay:
- Leave a check taped to the outside of your bag of soiled diapers.
- Mail a payment (check or money order).
- Call and have the balance on your account charged to a credit card (visa, mc or amex) – a one-time charge.
- Ask to have your credit card automatically charged every time there’s a balance on your account.
Note: there is a $25.00 charge for returned checks.
We will bill you monthly and we require a 4 week minimum. You will receive an invoice on the the last week of the month and payment is due the week of the month. There is a $1.50 charge for each day your payment is late.
Can I order different sizes?
- Preemie* – extra small for babies 3-10 lbs.
- Newborn – for babies weighing upto 10 lbs.
- Regular – for babies weighing 10-20 lbs.
- Super – extra thick super-absorbent diapers for 20 – 30 lbs.
- Toddler* – extra large & extra thick for babies 22 – 35 lbs.
*special ordered item and may not be in stock at all times
How can I avoid diaper rash?
Check your baby’s diaper often. There is no substitute for a clean diaper. A cotton diaper does not hide the wetness so you can tell when it needs to be changed. Wetness does not cause a rash. Rash is caused by germs, bacteria, acid, and ammonia build-up. Parents who use disposable diapers are fooled into thinking the diaper is clean simply because it feels dry. Changing less often to gain personal convenience is not the best childcare. Remember, a diaper is not a toilet.
Proper hand washing between changing is very important to keep yeast infection-type rashes from spreading. This type of rash is unique in that it usually requires an antibiotic prescription from a doctor to cure.
When a red, sensitive bottom appears after a loose and highly acidic bowl movement, (often the result of medication), letting the baby’s bottom soak in a tub of clear water does wonders to cool and clean residue trapped in skin pores and crevices.
If a rash persists, consult your doctor.
Where do you deliver?
Please see our Service Area map for details of where we deliver. Should you not see your area, please feel free to inquire about other options.
How do I get started?
We will ask you to select the rental items you wish to use in our store area here on the site. If you are diapering a newborn or welcoming a baby to your home, we will schedule a “pre-arrival” delivery to your home about 2 weeks before your estimated due date. Any other items you want will be delivered at that time. We include a copy of our handbook for customers as well as handouts showing folding techniques. We will then wait for you to contact us to say the baby has arrived, at which time your regular service and payment plan begins. We request that you contact us within 2 weeks of the “pre-arrival” delivery to begin service. Additional support – in person, over the phone, or via email – is available along the way. Our goal is to make your cloth diapering experience an enjoyable process so both parents and baby will love cloth diapering.
Initial payment is due on or before delivery of the pre-arrival. Initial payment will cover the first four weeks of service. The initial start up kit (diaper pail and pail liner bags) must be paid for at this time. Paid service is non-refundable.
